Nurses

You might be a nurse if...

When using a public restroom, you wash your hands with soap for a full minute and turn off the faucets with your elbows.

Your favorite dream is the one where you leave a mess at a patient's bedside and tell a doctor to clean it up.

Men assume you must be great in bed because of the 9 billion porn movies about nurses.

Everyone, including complete strangers, tells you about each and every ache and pain they have.

You want to put your foot through the TV screen every time you see a nurse on a soap opera doing nothing but talking on the phone and flirting with doctors.

You can almost SEE the germs on doorknobs and telephones.

You can watch the goriest movie and eat anything afterwards, even spaghetti with lots of tomato sauce.

You use a plastic 30cc medicine cup for a shot-glass.

  1. I must confess... I have called my sister Lynda many times with nurse-type questions about one thing or another concerning my parents, especially in the past couple of years.I'm so grateful for her knowledge and experience. She's totally my 'when to panic and when to let it go' meter in that department.

Have a YAYful day! big hugs xoxo

  2. That is one job I wouldn't be able to do. The hard work I could handle but the blood and other nasty sights would do me in :)

  6. Nurses are the best. If my nurses weren't so great when I was in the hospital when I had my stroke at 27 years of age, I would have gone nuts. They were my strength especially at the early times in the hospital. They were also great looking ones also. ( not all of them )Ha,ha,ha.

  7. You might be a nurse if you have designer scrubs for special occasions. :)
You might be a nurse if you think that white Rockports and compression hose are a fashion statement. :)
You might be a nurse if you wake your spouse up every two hours to take their temperature, check their blood pressure and pulse. :)
You might be a nurse if your child's first day at school includes packing their lunch and giving them a flu vaccine. :)
    Just sayin'.

  8. I like nurses because when you ask them a question, they give you an honest answer and then say, but you need to check with your doctor. The doctor won't always tell you what he thinks you probably have because unless you go through a zillion tests he is afraid of law suits.

Plus I'm pretty sure nurses are really good in bed.

Why would you want to want to destroy a perfectly good fantasy?

  10. Most nurses are fabulous, and they deserve better than to be treated as doctor's handmaidens. Love this list, and it makes me smile.

  14. So true & funny! One of my aunts (on my dad's side) was a nurse - and that side of the family was huge (tons of relatives). My poor aunt! Her phone was always ringing with everyone seeking free medical advice. She was a true nurse at heart though. She handled each call with care and compassion. She'd offer a little advice - and then always ended the calls telling the relative to go see their doctor because she was just a nurse. I feel kind of sorry for good nurses - the ones who really care and know their stuff. When we're sick or need their help, they're wonderful and they're often so much more than "just a nurse." :)

  18. It must be the nurses I hung out with in my career. I'm guilty of #1 and will gladly add "using the paper towel to use the doorknob" to that comment. (I was in marketing, not a nurse). I guess that goes with seeing the germs on the doorknobs.

I'm kinda manic about that one. :)
