Snowstorm

The morning after a terrible snowstorm, I spotted my neighbor Janet shoveling her driveway. I waved hello and asked why her husband wasn't out helping her.

She explained that one of them had to stay inside and look after their two small children. They had flipped a coin to determine who would be the one to go out and shovel.

"Sorry to hear of your bad luck," I said.

"Don't be," she replied quickly. "I won!"

  3. Am I the only person who would rather be with any number of little kids than be out in the snow, even if there wasn't shoveling involved.

  7. My kids are now old enough to do the shoveling, and I make them, because I hate the cold. But I am the one doing the lawn mowing! Hours of peace and relative quiet.

  8. Yep! Every time my husband had to care for the kids by himself, he agreed that having to go to work was the better deal!

  9. Very, very, very TRUE story!!!! When it snows, it is like a switch is flipped in a toddler and the incessant mantra "can we go outside? Can we?" begins. :) Most times I oblige, but during polar vorteces, I forbid.

  19. Ha Ha!!! Some kids are like that. I know myself if I see a woman mowing a lawn my 1st thought is "Poor woman, what a lazy husband she must have". I never stop to think that she may be on her own or may just likes mowing. I used to work with a bloke who did all the housework cooking etc & his wife mowed the lawns, looked after the gardens including planting the veggie garden etc. They both just preferred it that way. Seemed odd to me but that was their choice.
