Fragments

Thursday night was birthday night for our grandson and we took him out to Tahoe Joe's for dinner along with other family members. Tahoe Joe's is famous for their steaks. Nice juicy cuts cooked to perfection and served with your choice of potato and green beans.

Well, they must of had a new cook because I ordered my steak medium and it was raw. Not rare, but raw. Hubby thinks they put it on the grill, then turned it over then put it on my plate. He likes medium rare and he wouldn't touch that beautiful filet Mignon. My granddaughter ordered hers medium well and it was medium rare. So, we had a great time, but the steaks didn't cut it. Except for hubby and my sons steaks all the others were way undercooked or just warmed up as in my case. They were most gracious and comped the birthday boys meal, gave us all free desserts and when Sarah sent her medium rare steak back for more cooking they brought her a whole new meal. It was a class act in our view, but the meal left much to be desired.

I finally had an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon on Friday and here's the scoop. I have physical therapy for 4 weeks, 3 times a week and we'll see how I do. If I'm better great and if not he'll take a look inside my shoulder with a camera. He says it's about 50/50 that physical therapy will work. I'd rather try a non invasive fix than surgery so I'll let you know how it goes. I've got my fingers crossed that it will work and I won't have to have surgery. With the arthritis, the impingement and the tear in the rotator cuff the doctor mentioned tendonitis. Oh more joy.

Tonight is a yacht club dinner at Bridge Marina Yacht Club. It's a fun destination and they always treat us very well. So we are at the boat for the weekend, although that's nothing unusual. The weather has been very boat friendly of late and I'll bet some have even decided to boat over. We aren't one of those folks, but with nice weather it's hard to keep a boater in their slip.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone.

  1. Oh, I hope you won't need surgery. Bugger to the meal. I get a steak less than once a year and half the time I am disappointed, Good thing I'm not a beef person, huh?

Have fun on the boat! big hugs xoxo

  3. Nothing more pitiful than a poorly prepared steak. It's a crime.

Glad to hear you're starting with a non-invasive approach. I'm hoping it works and allows your shoulder the ability to heal. Hugs. Gentle ones. I don't want to cause your shoulder any more pain that it already has.

    1. It's a crime indeed.

Yes, I'd rather see if this works before surgery is considered. :)

  4. Wishing you every bit of luck on the physical therapy!! I agree, that's way better than surgery, and I hope it eliminates the need to even discuss it (surgery).

Sorry about your steaks!! I think good customer service makes up for a lot, but if the food's not good, it's hard to go back.

    Happy boating this weekend!

  5. I am hoping and praying with you, Sandee, that physical therapy will get things going for you again. Shoulder surgery is nothing to have done just to help the surgeon pay for his boat. Best wishes.

Too bad your favorite steak place turned out to be poor on the night you wanted to celebrate. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Grandson!!!

  6. If you thought that the restaurant meal was poor, don't go into the hospital. Let's hope it's not necessary.

  7. So hope and pray that PT will do the truck. Surgery is always a last choice, in my book...as in yours.

I know ya will have a grand time with your boating buds.

  11. ouch on the restaurant....hopefully it was just a fluke...but everyone's steak wasn't cooked right? Not good.
Keeping my fingers crossed that your PT works! back in 1987 I had a neurosurgeon get out his scalpel to sharpen it as he said PT would not work on my dengenerating discs in my neck and lower back. I declined- went to PT and I am still A-OK!
    Big hugs sweetie!

  12. The steak sounds great. Pray the therapy works out for you. I had a minor problems a few years back when I dislocated my shoulder---quite painful for a while, but therapy did the trick.

  13. Glad to hear that you have a couple of options to try for treatment. Keeping my fingers crossed that the physio will solve the problem.

As for your steak, it's frustrating when you have to deal with different interpretations of steak "doneness". It's taken me a while to train my other half on what I consider to be medium, which for him is more like medium rare. But then again, he likes rubbery red meat.

  15. I certainly hope that the physical therapy will work for your shoulder. It can do wonders, so you just have to have faith and do the exercises. The body can heal a great deal if given the chance.
