Fragments

I mentioned a while back that my car had $3,500.00 in repairs in December, and our truck had $1,500.00 in February. Well let me tell you that our 13 year old boat cost us $6,300.00 the other day and that's not all of it. Our mechanic has done a lot of work replacing things that aren't working right. He also rebuilt our generator as it wasn't working right either. Wow, boats are expensive. We really can't complain as we've not done any big ticket items to the boat until this year. It's just the price of boating. It hurts a bit though. Do you know what the acronym for BOAT stands for? Bring on Another Thousand. Boats are big holes in the water that you toss money in. It's worth it though.

I leave you with a cute video that I've seen all over the Internet, but if you haven't seen it take the two minutes and then smile at these simple truths. God Made a Dog!

Have a fabulous week!

  1. Sorry about the big ouchie on the checkbook. Yes, money pits. We all have a few, don't we?

  2. We used to budget 10% of the value of our yacht annually for repairs and maintenance, so it sounds like you might be on track, not that this is very helpful.

  3. I've heard something similar said about Harleys. The HD stands for Hundred Dollars, because every little item is $100.

  4. Praise the Lord, at least that is one major expense we do not have--a boat! Never heard of that acronym though, very good.

  5. Sorry about that expensive boat, but I have never known anyone that enjoys their boating life more than you and Zane, so get that boat fixed. At least it wasn't twice that much. Take care.

  17. Yowch! It always seems like big unplanned expenses hit in bunches, leaving your wallet with a great big hole! At least the repairs enable you to look forward to fun boating time this summer, so in my book that makes it worth it. Life can't be all work and no play! I absolutely loved the doggy video too! It was a day brightener, thanks! :-)

  19. Yikes on the boat bill but since it's worth it maybe it doesn't hurt so much :)
I've come across that video a few times but this is the first time I've actually watched the whole thing. So glad I did. I loved it

  20. I had a boat.
When I stopped using it at least weekly I sold it.

It's less expensive to rent one if you're only going out once or twice a month.
On top of that you can pick the kind you want each time.

  25. :-h I loved your "God Made a Dog" Youtube video. I had NOT seen it before. Every word is true. I love Adi, I still miss her an awful lot.

BOAT stands 'Bring on Another Thousand" is new for me. =D> Even when I worked for Ford Motor Co, FORD stood for Fix or Repair Daily. That is a common one.
