Fragments

Seymour our visiting pet rock is finally fitting in nicely. He loves champagne too. Way too much in fact. Have you ever seen a pet rock tipsy? It's not pretty, but he's older than us so we'll let him drink what he wants when he wants.

The Seafood Chowder feed was a huge success. We had 30 people in attendance and that's a lot of people for the small area we had to work with. It worked out just fine. There were tons of finger foods, and lots of delicious wine. People had a great time. I thought the guys would play games and instead they decided to hang out and catch up on the events in their lives. The gals decided to play quarters and we had two winners. The game of quarters can be exciting and it can also get very loud.

Hubby and I, along with one of the attendees who donated one door prize, had a total of 5 door prizes. Each hour we drew a name for a door prize. It was a fun thing to look forward to each hour. Really nice baskets and a couple of bottles of good booze. It went over very well and we'll do it again next year when we host this feed.

Hubby and I now feel like we've been hung out to dry. We were on our feet for hours yesterday dicing, cutting and preparing the Seafood Chowder. As I write this it's Sunday morning. We intend to stay on the boat for one more night. We'll go out to dinner tonight and I've a great book (Tripwire by Lee Child) to keep me company this afternoon. My feet are mighty happy I'm sitting down.

Have a terrific day.

  4. It sounds like a wonderful time. If we ever visit out that way I totally expect a ride on your boat.

The door prizes sound marvelous and I am still curious about that game of quarters. I am glad you got a chance to put your feet up and do some relaxing.

  5. Pick of the litter... Miss Bee's a scream and oh, how I've missed her!

I love doing big gatherings like that 35-40 family and friends. I haven't done one that big since leaving Florida, since my mother tends to obsess about everything, and I mean every little thing!... and I just go with the flow. The closest would be about 25 people for Thanksgiving a few years ago. It proved too stressful for my mother so no more! Glad you're feet are up. You've earned it!

    Big hugs xoxo

  6. I would LOVED all that, and would have been slicing and dicing along with y'all. Like Barb, I go with the flow and love that kind of entertaining. We lifted a toast to you and Zane that night. Just so ya know. You both were missed.

    Big hugs, honey...

Glad the party went so well. Let me know if that book is good. I like Lee Child. Take care.

  18. Sounds like your Seafood Chowder Feed was a big hit!! I am happy for you. Seymour will get to be expensive if he stays much longer as champagne is too expensive for him. Could you wean him over to beer? Just mix it in and every day more beer and less champagne.

Your Quarters game sounds like fun for the ladies. I suppose there is a lot of chatter going on which can keep it at a nice slow pace. Mrs. Jim plays with two bridge groups. One is slow because it is very social. The other is fast play because most of those players are serious about their bridge.

  22. Finger foods----something seems wrong and unamerican with that term. Kind of "Bloombergish" if you get my drift. Just tasty, unfilling snacks that I would reserve for a NYC crowd and never bring into my red neck domain.
