Wednesdays Question

It's Wednesday so that means it's question time. It's time to ponder and then answer just one question. Okay, you can add all you want as a reason for your answer too. We'd all like that.

So here's this weeks question: Did you have a best friend during your growing up years? Are you still in contact or have you drifted apart?
I had a really great friend named Terri Hurliman. We stayed in touch for about 10 years after we graduated high school and then lost contact with each other. We sure had a lot of fun while we were friends though.

  1. Yes, I am still in contact with my best friend from over 30 years ago (high school). In fact, her adult daughter and her husband are coming to New Zealand and will stay here with us.

  2. I was fortunate to have a best friend from 4th grade through graduation. We now only exchange Christmas cards and I've only been to visit her once since she got married and moved. We were very good friends though and I am so glad the Lord brought her into my life when He did.

  3. From 7th grade, into my mid thirties I had a best friend. Somehow, he moved away and we lost contact. I haven't seen him in over twenty-five years.

  4. Yep. Tim and I still communicate, though infrequently lately. We still know where each other are, 46 years later.

  5. I did have some best friends during high school but have not kept in contact with them. It is kind of sad. But good question.

  6. My best friend was Patty... until my family moved 35 miles away... which is as good as a million miles when you're 13! She did come to my wedding years later, but that was the last time I saw her. Funny you should ask because I actually googled her a few months back. I found both of her parents obituaries and her through property records. She still lives not far from where we grew up and I may look her up on one of my visits home.

Have a lovely day! big hugs xoxo

  7. I am not that good in this respect. However I am extremely fortunate that my friends keep in touch with me. We exchange greetings during festival seasons, meet for a quick coffee in malls, spend a couple of days during college alumni reunion events.

  8. Yes I have, my best friends since elementary school, but since we went to college, we were rarely met, for reasons of distance. Moreover, his current work location is further away from mine. So, we communicate less and less as each of our busyness. The last time he called me was 3 months ago.

  9. My best friend (and next door neighbor) was Vicky Ridinger. We did everything together for about 6 yrs, and then she met an older guy who totaly changed her. She quit school and married him. They divorced a few years later and she moved away. Wished many times I knew how she was doing or where she is.

  10. I was always really close with my cousin, Shelly. She lived across the dirt road from me. We spent hours in our basement playing Barbies.

In high school, my best friend was and still is to this day, Maggie. We still meet up for lunch a few times a month. Text and email all the time. We are so opposite, that it just works. I can be my quiet self with her. <3

  12. My close friend and I went our separate ways after seeing Chorus Line in the 80s.

My future husband and I sat in the two consecutive aisle seats after her boyfriend sat down in one of the interior seats next to ours.

She was a dancer and wanted to watch the choreography from the aisle seat.

My husband and I said, "We'll switch at the intermission."

There was no intermission. Things went downhill from there.

  13. My best friend was Ricky Delgado, the subject of many of my stories. I lost track of him in the 70s after I got married and I keep looking for him on Google but haven't located him yet.

  15. I had a very good friend in the first grade (we both skipped kindergarten):
    some thoughts can recall
show me yours I'll show you mine
    saith first grade girl friend

She left for parochial school in the third grade.

Also had 'running around' friends in high school. I've only seen two of them since graduation. I did see my old classmates at reunion but only one of them was in my running bunch.

  25. I do not recall a best friend, just a few good friends. Had a best friend in high school though. His name was George and I'm still in contact with his sister. Weird, huh?

  27. I was always a loner, I did make a few friends, but we each moved on. There are a few that we have reconnected on the Facebook, but mostly trivialities are exchanged. I left home very young, and that puts a strain on long-term friendship.
