One Billion...

According to a recent government publication.

A billion seconds ago Harry Truman was president.

A billion minutes ago was just after the time of Christ.

A billion hours ago man had not yet walked on earth.

A billion dollars ago was late yesterday at the U.S. Treasury.

  3. Are you sure that wasn't ten billion dollars ago at the treasury?
No, ten billion dollars ago was late yesterday at the budget office. We're spending it ten time faster than the treasury can print it. Just sayin'.

  6. " A Billion here, A Billion there, pretty soon, we're talking about real money." - Sen. Everett Dirkson. That sums up congress right there.

  7. Well that is all very scary. Don't like to think about all that. Who can count that high?? Have a super day.

  8. Good post, Sandee. Makes one think about the size of the numbers that we throw around.

I calculated that for the $1 Billion there are 311,800,000 people in the U.S. to spread it around.
That is cheap at half the price with each person here owing $3.21. Now if we'd up it to four bucks each our country could run in high gear for many more years.

I'm game, are you? We can let expansion, appreciation, and inflation foot the bill, just like buying a house. All for $4.00.

  10. The numbers you post add up! The dollars we spend don't. Heard just the other day, the treasury is considering doing away with the penny. Cost more to mint them than they are worth---that simple fact tells you everything when you stop to think about it.

  17. And a billion years ago, my pet rock was round abouts, somewhere, doing what rocks did before any of them learned that they could, at some future point, aspire to 'pet' status.

Seymour loves to remind me of that...

  20. I was visiting a site the other day similar to this that would give you the date and time when you reached a certain number of significant seconds, minutes, and days. I keep missing all of my monumental moments like the date that I've been alive for one million seconds. :)

  22. I'm sure the Government will figure out how to turn that billion dolloars into a lot more!

  23. If they don't keep spending, the economy will collapse. I wonder how long ago Entrecard passed 1 billon drops? I think it's due to pass 10 million placed ads shortly :-)
