Wednesdays Question

It's Wednesday so that means it's question time. There isn't a right or wrong answer to this question as everyone has different opinions on any given issue.

So here's this weeks question: Have you ever hurt someones feelings when you thought you were doing a good thing?

  4. I am sure that some of my best intentions have left some raw nerves along the way. I know that I have given many a friend or family member the opportunity of practice a little forgiveness.

  5. Unfortunately, Yes. I've had friends see through my white lies, and take my silence as a negative, and I'm sure there were some overt comments and actions that had the opposite effect than was intended.

  6. I think it would be impossible to be human and NOT hurt someone's feelings ever, even with every well-meaning intention, wouldn't it? I try not to put my foot in my mouth but sometimes it just kinda happens. Bugger.

    Big hugs xoxo

  7. I sure have hurt people's feelings. Like Barb said, it is almost impossible not to hurt other people's feelings. Take care.

  8. Yes. I have hurt others feelings without my knowledge countless number of times in an effort to do good to them. It was not intentional. I also don't know how to avoid this kind of situation.

  9. oh yeah... recently on my blog i did. unintended comment that hurt a friend's feelings. the written word can do that so easily, the nuance of speech helps and i forget that sometimes in my rambles...

  10. Yes, unfortunately, without meaning to I have, but I always take it as a lesson learned and hopefully I will not repeat my past mistakes!

  11. Sometimes it seems like "all the time" would be the answer to this one. Sigh.

  12. Yes. As a former art instructor and professional illustrator I often have people bring me their artwork, or their children's, to ask if it's any good. My goal is to be encouraging but I'm sure I've given constructive criticism that wasn't taken very well.

  13. I'm not sure, but I think I did once when "friend" talked behind my back. I decided to just send her an email instead of confrontation. I hate confrontations so my email said that I need to take a break from her. Haha! It has been about 3 years now :)

  14. All the time. Even intentionally on occasion.

  15. Good deeds are there own reward---don't look to others to pat you on the back. If the intention is good please don't worry about the results that's the other persons problem.

  16. Yes I am sure I have. And my kids are included in this, sometimes I talk and then think later. BIG problem for me, I need to learn to think and then speak.

    Great question Wednesday Sandee :)

  22. yes a couple of times and felt awful afterwards they took it the wrong way, it was probably my own fault, I should have thought it out better before opening my big gob :-)

  23. Of course. That is part of being human...we all make mistakes. I would never hurt anyone intentionally, that is, as long as they don't mess with my kids or hubby!

    Good question. Big hugs honey...

  24. I know I have a million times... I can't think of a particular one now. One small thing I can think of - being a mom, you never want to hurt your kids. But one of mine started to gain weight. And gain and gain until he was over 200 pds and looked horrible. How do you approach an older child about that without hurting their feelings. It was tough. He was offended and I was very very gentle. I said I was worried about his health. You know what? It took a friend of his to get him going in the gym... to motivate him. My son is now BUILT.. HUGE muscles and he has lost SO much weight. You try to help, and even the most gentlest of nudges won't help ... it takes the right person.
