Y Generation

People born before 1946 were called The Silent and Powerful Generation.
People born between 1946 and 1964 are called The Baby Boomers.
People born between 1965 and 1979 are called Generation X.
And people born between 1980 and 2010 are called Generation Y.

Why do we call the last group Generation Y?

- Y should I get a job?
- Y should I leave home and find my own place?
- Y should I get a car when I can borrow yours?
- Y should I clean my room?
- Y should I wash and iron my own clothes?
- Y should I buy any food?

But a cartoonist explained it very eloquently below.

  6. I think Gen Y ended in the late 90's and now we have the millennials.

  20. I must admit I never understood how they decided on the names of different generations. I am a Baby Boomer, I hate that name. Y can't we be Gen W 'cos we come before X. Wonder what Gen Z will be like & where do they go after that??? Start over at Gen A???

  21. P.S. I changed my Poll options so now on the 2nd one you can vote for more than one. I also put an note above it to remind people that it's not just your favourite character but one's you'd like to see more of.

  29. I love it, Sandee. One of my kids skipped the Generation X according to your blurb.
She doesn't fit your pattern but her husband sure does! He's a "Y" to a "T"!

  30. I was suppose to be born three years earlier. I'm suppose to be a Gen Xer.

  31. Ok this is hilarious. I'm back in college so I'm surrounded by this generation. I'm a Gen X but good grief. I can't believe how lazy many of them are in class. I'm making straight A's (I do my work imagine that!) and one girl keeps telling I'm an overachiever. Really?! I would rather make A's than barely get by with a C. Which GPA would you rather have? (roll eyes)

  32. The cartoon pretty much sums up a lot of the Y Generation - they seem to have such an easy life...

  33. Love it! One of those "Y" Generation members is asleep upstairs in our guest room. It's been a year!
