Denounce the Devil

The priest was preparing a man for his long day’s journey into night. Whispering firmly, the priest said, “Denounce the devil! Let him know how little you think of his evil!”

The dying man said nothing.

The priest repeated his order.

Still the dying man said nothing.

The priest asked, “Why do you refuse to denounce the devil and his evil?”

The dying man said, “Until I know where I’m heading, I don’t think I ought to piss off anybody.”

  2. I was getting a good chuckle until I saw the picture. That's too true to be funny. A favorite old saying; "There are no atheists in a foxhole."
Good joke, just so you know I tell these to my wife, she thinks I'm brilliant.

  4. On his death bed and still hedging his bets... tsk.tsk.tsk.

The graphic is sadly all too true. If I had school-age children in these troubled times I would seriously consider homeschooling.

Have an awesome Sunday! big hugs xoxo

RE graphic: I'm with Barb -- either parochial school or homeschooling.

  11. The sign of the times? Unfortunately it is true. I'm denouncing the devil and I know where I'm going. Thankfully.

  13. Your post gave me a chuckle. Thanks. As for the picture, here is the minority side of the conflict--love you too. The problem with prayer in school is that it becomes entirely Christian. I have no problems with a moment of silence and know that as long as teachers give tests, there will be prayer in school. I do have serious concerns when others force group led prayer to a deity I do not follow and am HIGHLY offended when people try to push their religion on those of us of alternate faiths. I don't bother people about following my religion, so they need to RESPECT my right to pray as I wish and leave organized prayer out of public schools. If you can imagine being the minority Christian expected to pray to Allah, Buddha, Mohamed, or whoever, hopefully you can understand my point of view. Just remember, we are a country founded on freedom of religion; therefore, prayer does NOT belong in schools.

  18. Thanks for the two laughs. I laughed at the cleverness of the t-shirt, however I do agree with Joyce's comment above.
