A Day of Peace

I hope all of my readers had a wonderful Christmas day, well if you celebrate Christmas that is. Many of you remember my not so fun Thanksgiving, and for those that don't you can read about it HERE. We weren't going to do Christmas dinner at all but decided not to penalize the rest of the family for the actions of one. Well that and many of you weighed in on why we should do Christmas. We are so happy we listened to you and decided to host Christmas dinner.

We had our son and two granddaughters and our oldest granddaughters beau. We had a terrific, peaceful day of them playing poker while we cooked and then we had a great meal of fillet roast, potatoes and gravy, dressing, fresh asparagus and fresh baked bread. We then watched a terrific movie called Inception. If you've not seen this movie you should. It is a bit long, but kept all of us on the edge of our seats. Go HERE to watch the trailer.

We then had our choice of pumpkin pie, cherry pie or cheesecake with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Some had a little of each. Now you're talking. After that everyone moved on to the next event of their day. It was truly a very special day for hubby and I. A day without drama is an excellent day indeed. Now we are just waiting for the phone call from the oldest granddaughter telling us to show up at the hospital as the baby is on the way. We are going to be great grandparents. Wonderful.

  1. Glad you had a nice Christmas and a peaceful day. Ours was very peaceful too.

  2. I'm so glad you all did this! To me there's nothing more fun than sharing a good meal with those you love....

Have a great week! Hugs to you both! and I hope you get that call soon!

  3. That sounds like a perfect day! I'm so glad you didn't cancel Christmas! And a new baby on its way... how absolutely heavenly.

    Big hugs :]

  4. You celebrated Christmas with such joy indeed. You are blessed.

I love the movie Inception and had a review about it before. :)
It's actually my best movie of this year.

  5. oh my gosh i am so happy for you two! and there is nothing as grand as a new grandbaby. nothing on earth!

    smiles, bee

  6. Merry Christmas! I'm glad yours turned out so well. You could have let the recalcitrants maintain their power over you by canceling what has been a beautiful time. But, you didn't.

What a wonderful Christmas present for all. Your decision to host the get-together again is just another wonderful example of the meaning of the season.

(I have a sneaky suspicion, that's what Jesus would say. Or, something much more eloquent.)

Keep up your good works. You do...

Serve with integrity, care about those you serve and share the love in your heart and soul.

PS: We had a quiet Christmas. Thank goodness for FaceTime on our iPhone. We got to visit with our girls and our young grandson. They live on the West Coast and a visit wasn't in the cards this year.

  7. That is so great that you had such a good Christmas day. We are thrilled that you decided to do it and had a good time too. Sounds like a delicious meal. Take care and have a great day.

  8. See...changing your mind turned out to be AOK and everything was great. And a great grandbaby any minute...what a blessing. Will add mom and baby to my prayers.

Have a great day. Big hugs from snowy nawth jawjah, honey...

  9. Sandee, that is so wonderful! I am glad you listened to you heart.

I wish Christmas could be like Easter and Holy week. What is it that makes Christmas so caustic?

Anyway, so glad that you had your dinner and enjoyed your family.

    HUGS back to you.

  10. Happy Times and a New Year baby! Lovely

  11. Can't wait to hear the baby news! We are going to watch Inception on New Years. So glad you spent Christmas with family. Have a wonderful day, Sandee.

  12. So glad you celebrated Christmas and it turned out better than Thanksgiving! Ours was good as well. We gave our daughter's boyfriend the movie, Inception, because we heard he really liked it. I guess we need to watch it! Happy New Year, too!

  13. so glad you decided to go ahead with a Christmas celebration and that it was a nice day for you.

  14. asparagus!!! Gag, gag, gag...
I firmly believe that God only created the stuff so that brussel sprouts had something to taste better than. Not much better than though...

  15. A peaceful day at the homestead is a good thing. Glad your Christmas was blissmas. Love asparagus. Not so thrilled with brussel sprouts.

I really want to see Inception. My son saw it and loved it.

    Warm thoughts,

  16. Sounds to me like you had the perfect day including the asparagus and your choice of movie. Inception is one of my and Amanda's favorites and I think it was an excellent role for Leonardo DiCaprio. As a matter of fact, I got Amanda the DVD as one of her Christmas presents. Now if I could just find the time to sit down and watch it again with her. Maybe on New Year's?

Speaking of which, what are the chances of you having a New Year's Great-Grandchild?!?

  17. So glad you did it. And you will both be GREAT, Great-grandparents. So giving and generous, loving and kind. The perfect combination.

  18. Great!
This is the way a holiday should be! (Not like last one!)
Glad everyone had a good time!
