Winter

My husband and I purchased an old home in Northern New York State from two elderly sisters. Winter was fast approaching and I was concerned about the house's lack of insulation. "If they could live here all those years, so can we!" my husband confidently declared.

One November night the temperature plunged to below zero, and we woke up to find interior walls covered with frost. My husband called the sisters to ask how they had kept the house warm.

After a rather brief conversation, he hung up. "For the past 30 years," he muttered, "they've gone to Florida for the winter."

Too bad the husband didn't see that one coming.

Ha! Smart sisters :) Our house could benefit from better insulation as well. Thank goodness we do not have a frost on walls yet :)

That is the thing to do, just move to Florida. Too funny. I wouldn't want to spend a winter up North. I did that for my child hood and it is not fun. Have yourself a terrific day.

That takes me back to my childhood days, when you only had a coal fire in one room in the house, and it was only lit on rare occasions. We always had ice on the inside of our windows. We were toughened to it.

oh those are some smart girls. I had an aunt that went to Florida every year for winter. Wouldn't mind heading there myself right now. It's only November and I'm already freezing

If I lived up there, I'd be in Florida all winter too. I don't care for cold weather, as you know.

LOL! Those sisters headed to warmer temperatures! I wonder if they are now in Jamaica!:) Anyway I love the picture with the post. I am not sure I would survive the cold but I think snow is very beautiful Sandee!

Frost on interior walls. Good Grief that's too cold. It's our 1st day of summer here today & after 2 weeks with rain nearly every day it's sunny & beautiful outside today. Enjoy your winter...

LOL - too close to home. Sounds like the houses here. We use the fireplace as our heat source. Bathrooms are freezing in the winter.
