An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week, which I quote:
"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq Theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers. Conclusion: The U.S. should pull out of Washington D.C.
The firearm death rate in Washington, D.C. is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period.
That means you are about 25% more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the U.S., than you are in Iraq.

20 Brilliant Opinions:
Well isn't that interesting. Exactly why I never agreed with the idiots who wanted all those gun control laws. Do they really think the bad guys care about the laws?
LOL - I am pretty sure you put this up as a serious post. However, I am laughing :)
Hey... let's send all of our criminals and hoodlums over there and empty out the jails and courts! Think of the money we'd $ave!
Happy Saturday honey xoxo
If we emptied out the politicians, a lot of criminals would then BE out of D.C.! Brilliant.
Happy boating. Big hugs, honey...
Just another reason to not like Washington D.C.
Just another reason to not like Washington D.C.
I have to agree with Barb. Send all those criminals to Washington. Sounds like there are a lot there anyway. Take care and have a great time on that boat Sandee.
Sounds perfectly logical to me!
Have fun on the Delta this weekend!
What's the old saying? When you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have them. Yet, they still think more gun control is the answer. Love the comment about pulling out of DC,down here in Texas we have been saying that for years. Shared on Facebook. Thanks
lmbo, sounds like a plan!
Have an awesome weekend at the boat!

Wow! Who would have thunk? My daughter goes to school in College Park, Maryland. I need to warn her to stay out of DC.

Iraq is a desert but there is way more hot air in DC too.
I'm sure the cops killed about half of those, at least. I hope every crook shooter there gets his bullet back seven times.
..
BTW, from my catch-up-batch-reading I am still smiling about your "Walk with me by the water" post.
It is in such a pretty setting but I would need hand rails to dare go walking along that path.
..
As long as there are plenty of arms manufacturers lobbying in Washington, there will never be anything resembling gun control.
I don't know about that, George. I hope you're right! But there are a lot of lefties who would love to ban handguns! Personally, I want a permit to carry concealed! My neighborhood is not the best......
LOL @ Bearmans comment :-)
Have a good Sunday :-)
i'm back! this is very interesting for sure! gosh how scary!

DC sounds like a crazy place. Maybe instead of trying to make Iraq a safer place sounds like all those billions that are being spent should be spent in your own back yard. It is a similar story in the UK.
I think the government should pull out of Washington D.C.
I think our Australian magazine editor just made that up to worry you Americans.
