The Boat Launch

Greg just bought a new boat, and decided to take her for the maiden voyage. This was his first boat, and he wasn't quite sure of the correct procedure for launching it off a ramp, but figured it couldn't be too hard.

He consulted his local boat dealer for advice, but they just said, "don't let the trailer get too deep when you are trying to launch the boat."

Well, he didn't know what they meant by that, as he could barely get the trailer in the water at all!

Anyhow, here's a picture.

Some people shouldn't be allowed out alone!

I have seen some stuff at the boat ramp that would win America's Funniest Home Video's...hands down. This is a good one.

Sandee, the boat seems to be in fine shape, may have to put the outboard on the truck though, hope he had his life belt on.

Okay, tell the truth, Sandee. This wasn't at your club or marina, was it? Was IT?

Desert Songbird _ No it wasn't at our marina or club. Thank goodness. We are far better boaters than that. :)

Five more feet and he's got the boat in the perfect position to launch.

Staci on October 28, 2009 9:57 PM said...

The sad thing is you know that there have to be people who have done exactly that and there will continue to be people who do it. Maybe they think 4 wheel drive means the truck can drive on water so long as it's in the right gear.

Hey, as long as it isn't me for once doing something stupid.

I've seen this guy at our lake before! He also has been known to hand the rope to his wife while he backs the truck and trailer out, only to find out in a few seconds that the other end of the rope wasn't tied to the boat yet. He got very wet swimming after his empty boat! My dad and I love to go to the lake on opening day of trout and watch the rookies! Such entertainment!
