The Comment Game

I'm off to the boat for the weekend and wanted to have something for you to do if you dropped by. What's better than getting to play the comment game? So play nice and I'll see you Sunday.

Here's how it goes: I'll start the game off in the comments section by choosing two words or phrases, like coffee or tea, and which ever one you prefer you choose. You can also explain why. When you have done that you do two new words or phrases for the next commenter to choose from. Feel free to come back as often as you like. Just have fun.

The Big Shot

Joe grew up in a small town, then moved away to attend college and law school. He decided to come back to the small town because he could be a big man in this small town. He really wanted to impress everyone. So he returned and opened his new law office.

The first day, he saw a man coming up the sidewalk. He decided to make a big impression on this new client when he arrived. As the man came to the door, Joe picked up the phone. He motioned the man in, all the while talking.

"No. Absolutely not. You tell those clowns in New York that I won't settle this case for less than one million. Yes. The Appeals Court has agreed to hear that case next week. I'll be handling the primary argument and the other members of my team will provide support. Okay. Tell the DA that I'll meet with him next week to discuss the details."

This sort of thing went on for almost five minutes. All the while the man sat patiently as Joe rattled instructions. Finally, Joe put down the phone and turned to the man. "I'm sorry for the delay, but as you can see, I'm very busy. What can I do for you?"

The man replied, "I'm from the phone company. I came to hook up your phone."

Give Me Five Monday #15

The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, I will put out a random topic from my list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back here! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn't have to be in any order of importance unless otherwise specified. Sign up for weekly reminder emails @ beccagirl@charter.net

Our mission this week: Give Me Five favorite things to do in your favorite season of the year.

1. Boating, but in California the weather is better than not, so we enjoy boating year round, but especially during the spring, summer and fall.

We own a 340 Sea Ray Sundancer. It's complete with a galley, head and shower, and sleeping quarters. That means we can go anywhere and stay. It's a floating summer home so to speak. Click HERE to view this vessel.

2. We are members of the Delta Marina Yacht Club and enjoy all the year round functions. These include once a month meetings during the cold months and cruises during the warmer weather months. Our first cruise out is March for St. Patty's day.

3. The Bay Cruise in October. This is aside from our yacht club functions. A group of our yacht club members takes a cruise to the San Francisco bay. Last year we only went to Benicia Yacht Club, but this year we are going to participate in the entire cruise. It covers about 9 days of cruising. Can't wait.

4. Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. It's when everything comes alive and the gloom of winter leaves my 'tired of the cold' body. I have a renewed spring in my step and lots of energy. It's time to enjoy the great big outdoors and look at all the beautiful blooms.

5. Lastly Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year. I love all things Christmas. I love the trees and decorations, the beautiful gifts I get to pick out and wrap for those I love. I love the friends and family get togethers. I just love the feeling of Christmas.

Mo of It's A Blog Eat Blog World, our wonderful host of Manic Monday has had rather an explosive week, but I don't think it's my place to talk about that. Ferrari 360 Modena...

I found this quiz over at Chuck's of Foster Me Up and just had to know. I like how it turned out too. I just want to know why I'm driving a Mercedes E320 when I should be in one of these.

I'm a Ferrari 360 Modena!

You've got it all. Power, passion, precision, and style. You're sensuous, exotic, and temperamental. Sure, you're expensive and high-maintenance, but you're worth it.

Unconditional Friendship

Yesterday was for some reason not a very good day for me. It was like my mind was misfiring and I wasn't quite getting anything right. I hate those days. Thank goodness they happen very seldom. When I have those days it seems that right behind them something special happens. Well, it did this morning while making my rounds. I visited one of my favorite people Jos of NoDirectOn (not:NoDirection), and found that he had awarded me the Unconditional Friendship Award (originally created by Misty of My Dogs Keep Me Sane). This just made my day. Thank you Jos from the bottom of my heart.

Here's what Jos said as he passed this award to me:

I am passing this one on to one person only, the incredible Sandee of Comedy Plus, who has become a true blogging friend and who never stops thinking of me and of many, many others when it comes to sharing her humor, her wisdom and her true friendship. Thank you, Sandee!

Thank you so very much for making my day Jos when I needed it the most. I award this award back to you as you are a true blogging buddy as well. Big hug!

Meme Monday

Melanie of Livin' With Me! started Meme Monday, and I think it's a great idea. Just do a big post every Monday with all your tags and awards and that's it. I really like that, so that's what I'm going to try to do each week. So let's get this show on the road.

Maryt of Answers to the Questions awarded me with the Five Star Blog Award. Thank you very much Teach. Big hug.

Maryt awarded this to the following five folks:

Sandy Carlson of Writing in Faith
Jamie of Duward Discussion
Nancy of Goat Rodeo
Sanni of Coffee 2 Go
Sandee of Comedy Plus

Next Chuck of Foster Me Up decided I didn't have enough to do, so she tagged me with the friendship meme. I love it too. What is better than our buddies out here in cyberspace. Well, perhaps boating, but I really value all my blogging buddies. Love to you all.

- Start copy here -

Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.

When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay"
in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires,
all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence,
as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.

And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter,
and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart
finds its morning and is refreshed.

Kahlil Gibran - On Friendship

-end copy here-

Then if that wasn't enough Chuck awarded me the Friendship is a Light in the Darkness award. Thank you so very much my great friend.

So, I'm going to award these two awesome awards and the Friendship meme to the following: Everyone that's on my buddy list. You are all there for a very good reason. Remember, you do not have to participate if you don't want to. I don't have a dungeon like Mimi does.

Little Johnny on Fat

A Little Johnny wakes up three nights in a row when he hears a thumping sound coming from his parents' bedroom. Finally, one morning he goes to his mom and says, "Mommy, every night I hear you and daddy making noise and when I look in you're bouncing up and down on him."

His mom is taken by surprise and says. "Oh... well I'm bouncing on his stomach because he's fat and that makes him thin again."

The boy says, "That won't work."

His mom says, "Why?"

The boy replies. "Because the lady next door comes by after you leave each day and blows him back up!"

Awards and a Tag...

I'm so behind on awards and tags. In fact someone called yummy (no I didn't make that up) tagged me for something and for the life of me I can't find the link. If you read this Yummy, please direct me in the right direction. Okay, so here are the cool awards I've gotten in the last week:

The first award is You Light Up My Day from my dear pal Lyn of It's a Women's World. Here's what she said about me: Sandee of Comedy Plus for you have a been a great friend, and always make me laugh and think, plus, you inspire me to write...:) Thanks you so very much Lyn. I had no idea.

The next award is the You Inspire Me award from Sanni of Coffee 2 Go. Here's what Sanni had to say about me: - Sandee @ Comedy+ - she definitely never fails to put a huge smile on my face. I admire her sense of humor. She´s a true inspiration. How cool. I didn't know this either.

The next award is the Blogger of the Month February 2008 from Ivana of Communique by Ivanhoe. Here's what she said about this award: Since I have started to blog just about a month ago and I am the new kid on the block, I would like to reward my fellow bloggers every month. Just for caring, being supportive, inspirational, and publishing interesting posts (and comments). Drum roll please.... The winner for month of February is.... Sandee of Comedy Plus. Thank you, Sandee, and please feel free to post this badge on your blog. I so enjoy her new blog, so go over and say hello.

The next three awards come from my buddy Colin of Life. He awarded me the 'You Are Toadally Awesome’, 'Friendship is the Light in the Darkness', and the 'Amazing Award'. How cool Colin.

The last award was Santa's Blog of the Day from Santa himself of Santa's Blog of the Day. Here you are nominated for blog of the day and your peers vote for you. So for those that voted for me a big thank you. I tied with Colin of Life, so we each took home the prize that day.

A big thank you to each and every one of you. I love you all.

I award, 'You Light Up My Day', 'You Inspire Me...' 'You Are Toadally Awesome', 'Friendship is a Light in the Darkness', and 'Amazing Award' to everyone in my Buddy List.

Greatfullivin of Gratefullivin tagged me with the 7 Random Things About Me meme. I've done this in several different variations, but what the heck, a tag is a tag. Thanks and here goes.

THE RULES:
1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post THE RULES on your blog.
3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 7 people and link to them.
5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

Here we go...

1. Anything not nailed down is a cat toy.
2. The only perfect science is hindsight.
3. Next time you wave, use all your fingers.
4. A penny saved is a Congressional spending oversight.
5. I like kids, but I don't think I could eat a whole one.
6. If you believe in telekinesis, raise my hand.
7. Even crime wouldn't pay if the government ran it.

My 7 people to tag are...

You knew I wouldn't follow the rules didn't you? I just don't want to tag anyone. If you want to play let me know and I'll add your link here. Have a great day. :)

Female Logic...

A fire fighter is working on the engine outside the station when he notices a little girl next door in a little red wagon with little ladders hung off the sides and a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle.

The girl is wearing a fire fighter's helmet. The wagon is being pulled by her dog and her cat.

The fire fighter walks over to take a closer look. "That sure is a nice fire truck," the fire fighter says with admiration.

"Thanks," the girl says.

The fire fighter looks a little closer and notices the girl has tied the wagon to her dog's collar and to the cats testicles.

"Little Partner," the fire fighter says, "I don't want to tell you how to run your rig, but if you were to tie that rope around the cats collar, I think you could go faster."

The little girl replies thoughtfully, "You're probably right, but then I wouldn't have a siren."

2007 Darwin Awards

Runner up #5:

"Driving is not a time to be practicing your multitasking skills," remarked CHP spokesman Tom Marshall, commenting on a 29-year-old computer tutor's decision to drive along Highway 99 in California while working on his laptop. He drifted over the center line, and was killed by oncoming traffic. CHP officers found Oscar's computer still running, plugged into the Honda Accord's cigarette lighter.

Runner up #4:

June 2007, Illinois -- Two Valparaiso men tested their reflexes by playing "chicken" with a train. Which man could stay on the rail the longest in the path of an oncoming train? At the stroke of midnight, the contest was decided. The winner, aptly named Patrick Stiff, lost his life. The train continued on, as the conductor was unaware that it had hit anyone.

Runner up #3:

January 2007, West Virginia -- Three friends set out to dismantle a dilapidated barn one bracing winter afternoon. Speaking of bracing... One industrious man fired up his chainsaw and ripped through a crucial support post. Carrying the weight of a full barn roof, those wooden support beams were all that stood between the demolition worker and structural collapse. It was all fun and games until the roof, sans support, succumbed to the pull of gravity and flattened the man with the chainsaw. As a consolation prize, the deceased was indeed successful at demolishing the barn.

Runner up #2:

January 2007, East Germany -- One man's extraordinary effort to eradicate a mole from his property resulted in a victory for the mole. The metal rods he pounded into the ground and connected to a high-voltage power line, electrified the very ground the man stood upon. He was found dead at his holiday property on the Baltic Sea. Police had to trip the main circuit breaker before venturing onto the property.

Runner up #1:

June 2007, South Carolina -- A passing cabbie found a 21 year-old deceased couple laying naked in the road an hour before sunrise. Authorities were baffled. There were no witnesses, no trace of clothing, and no wrecked vehicles present. But investigators eventually found a clue high on the roof of a nearby building: two sets of neatly folded clothes. Safe sex takes on a whole new meaning when you are perched on the edge of a pyramid-shaped metal roof. "It appears as if [they] accidentally fell off the roof," Sgt. McCants said.

And the 2007 Darwin Award winner is...

May 2004, Texas -- Michael was an alcoholic. And not an ordinary alcoholic, but an alcoholic who liked to take his liquor... well, rectally. His wife said he was "addicted to enemas" and often used alcohol in this manner. The result was the same: inebriation. And tonight, Michael was in for one hell of a party.

Two 1.5 litre bottles of sherry, more than 100 fluid ounces, right up the old address!

When the rest of us have had enough, we either stop drinking or pass out. When Michael had had enough (and subsequently passed out) the alcohol remaining in his rectal cavity continued to be absorbed. The next morning, Michael was dead.

The 58-year-old did a pretty good job of embalming himself. Toxicology reports measured his blood alcohol level as 0.47%.

In order to qualify for a Darwin Award, a person must remove himself from the gene pool via an "astounding misapplication of judgment." Three litres of sherry up the butt can only be described as astounding. Unsurprisingly, his neighbors said they were surprised to learn of the incident.
